LAMIKA: A better life in my neighborhood
planning & visioning workshops
In January 2010 a massive earthquake struck Haiti destroying the capital, Port-au-Prince, and devastating the rest of the country. In the aftermath of this event, we worked with the American Red Cross on planning for long-term recovery efforts. Project Urbanista designed and conducted a three-week participatory needs assessment collaborating ARC staff and the residents of Carrefour-Feuille, a badly damaged Port-au-Prince neighborhood. Integrating community input with organizational capacity and goals, our team drafted a comprehensive urban development strategy to guide rebuilding efforts this badly affected zone.
